AA rescue animal is an animal that is rescued from a possible euthanasia after being found as a stray, an animal that has been saved from an abusive or neglectful home by ananimal rescue organization. I use my art to help support animal rescue as much as I can. I have 2 adopted birds from a rescue in my area. A couple of weeks ago one of my horses became very ill. After calling the vet and paying a fairly large bill for care and medicine I called an area horse rescue to talk to them about surrendering my horses (2 of them) as it is difficult financially to keep up with a sick animal. The director suggested due to over crowding at their rescue I keep the horses and they would help with some fresh hay. (The bale I had was not good for my ill horse). I asked if I could help them by donating a gourd for fundraising. They happily said yes that fund raisers and donations were their only income. Although far from finished the gourd below is what will be sent Forget-Me-Not Horse Rescue. The picture above is Scooter a mascot and special needs parrot for All Parrot Rescue
This is my first blog post and I am super excited about this blog journey.
A tiny bit about me. I have always loved to draw, I took a drawing class in college and it fueled the fire. I did not think I could paint but took a painting class from a friend and loved it. My daughter bought me some craft paints for my birthday and I went out and picked up rocks. There are plenty of them in my area. I turned the rocks into animals and was hooked! I paint mostly wildlife, pets and birds.
I am a self taught gourd artist and want to use this blog to share what I have learned mostly through trial and error. I always want to show that it is possible to create art, on well how to say this in a fancy way oh well, I do art on the cheap. I think it is possible to make beautiful things without spending huge amounts of money. Please let me know if you have questions or ideas you want me to explore. I am eager to travel this blog path.
My latest gourd.
